It’s not very often that I talk about beauty products at all on the blog, mostly because I really like to try products and see how they work for me before I dedicate time reviewing them fully. Skincare and beauty regimes are so personal to all of our lifestyles, and when it comes to shaving, that applies too. However, wherever or whenever you decide to shave, I’ve found the tool that has completely changed the game for me.
I was kindly gifted a razor starter kit by the amazing guys over at Estrid. There’s a lot of razor subscription services out there, however, they’re heavily targeted at men and although the blades are good and sharp, however, your skin is left not feeling hydrated and I find that the sharpness of mens razor blades can be a bit concerning when you’re shaving well, you know where I mean. I want a razor that is sharp, but also hydrates my skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth for as long as possible and if it’s a vegan razor, that’s a serious game changer.
No More Bad Shave Days With Estrid
Shaving as a woman (or a man) is a choice that we all make, but whether you’re constantly as hair-free as possible, or you’re more of a fan of the 70’s woodstock approach, you should always have a razor that you can rely on (and that looks cute in your bathroom, right?)
Sometimes when I’m in the supermarket doing my weekly shop and I know I need more razors, I look at the prices and I walk away with nothing in my basket. The prices are ridiculous and the majority of the times, the razors are nothing special, so I feel as though I’ve wasted my money and satisfaction.
Estrid is a (vegan) 5-blade razor, specifically designed for those of us who believe that the hair removal process should be a pain-free affair on the skin, the wallet and for the planet. You may be reading this like, ‘aren’t all razors Vegan?’ well, that’s what I thought until I was introduced to Estrid.
The majority of razor brands use animal substances in their moisture strips ,but Estrid don’t. Instead of that they use natural ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter and cocoa butter. Better for the skin, the planet and your body
My First Impressions
With brands that claim they’re vegan, cruelty free and want to help the planet, sometimes it’s a huge slap in the face when you invest your time and energy into a brand and the products come in a ridiculous amount of plastic packaging, I see SO many brands do this, where it’s almost like their entire brand ethos stop at their packaging. This however, is not the case with Estrid, the razor & blades where packaging not only beautifully, but without a single bit of plastic. Major points from me.
As someone who is very house proud and finds a whole lot of satisfaction out of my home looking ‘aesthetically pleasing’, I just like nice things and having a home that is just pleasing to the eye. So the fact that is razor is almost like a cute accessory in my bathroom is just the icing on the cake. The way the razor is weighted and comes with a matching wall holder really adds to the value of the product, I cannot believe that the razor as an RRP of under £10.
The First Shave
I usually shave when I’m in the bath, as its a little easier. However, I shower a lot more than I do bathe, however, because I knew I was testing out a new razor (and I was excited about it) I treated myself to a bath especially for the occasion. The razor felt great to use, it didn’t pull or tug the skin (I didn’t cut myself, so that’s a win) however, the most impressive thing was that I didn’t use any shaving cream, the moisture strips are that nourishing that I didn’t have to use anything additional, which is a real time saver.
Immediately after I shaved, I notice just how soft my legs felt and my underarms had no razor bumps or sore skin (which is usually something I suffer with) As soon as I got out of the bath and dried myself off, I honestly couldn’t stop feeling how smooth my legs where, I even told my boyfriend to stroke them because I was that impressed. Usually with my legs, I don’t have to be too obsessive with the leg shaving as I am fair haired, however, throughout the Summer, I find that I need to shave ever 3-4 days. I’m now just pushing day 5 of not changing and I’m only just noticing any hair growth, like my legs are only ‘just’ getting to that prickly stage,
Overall, I’m honestly so impressed with the Estrid razor. I cannot see myself going back to the Razor at my local drug store, they just do not compare.
