Valentines Day may be one for the couples, however, whether you’re dating, happily in a relationship or even having a GALentines this year, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t dress up and feel good in your own skin. I personally don’t really get dressed up too often, so whenever I dress up for a date night or a night out, I always feel a million dollars.
This year I’m more determined than ever to love myself and wave goodbye to the constant fear that I’m being judged for what I look like. Thanks to New Look, I’ve got a new-found love for my body and I’ve been able to push the boundaries with my night out style and feel good in the skin I’m in. After all, you can’t truly love anyone else, until you love yourself.
I’ve teamed up with New Look for a very special Valentines Blog post, however this year, it’s all about being your own Valentine and treating yourself right. So, let’s delve into a world of sassy outfits and self-love!
LOVE YOURSELF THIS VALENTINES
In the society that we live in today, It’s as though we’re constantly judging ourselves and scrolling through Instagram wishing why we don’t look like our social idols. However, there’s nothing more important than taking a step back from that and actually looking in the mirror to admire yourself, rather than tearing yourself apart.
In modern relationships, when there’s 101 dating apps and it’s never been easier to connect with people and share your life on the internet, with that can bring doubt within relationships as well as doubt within ourselves and whether we’re worthy or not. Luckily my boyfriend is no social media pro, so I don’t necessarily have this issue, however, after a conversation with my work colleges it seems as though it really is an issue, which does truly sadden me, as no-one should ever doubt their own self worth or beauty.
This Valentines, thanks to New Look I’m taking a pledge to love myself and appreciate what’s unique about me, rather than comparing myself to air brushed images, models and the instagram famous. I’m not them and most importantly, they’re not me.

I LOVE BEING ME BECAUSE…
I love being me because I have a lot compassion towards other people and animals
I love being me because I can still fit into children’s clothing (yeah..I know)
I love being me because of my witty and dry sense of humour
I love being me because I have a laugh like my sister
I love being me because I get tongue tied when I’m excited
I love being me because there’s nobody else like me
Who said you have to get dressed up to the nines to feel good? For me, I love nothing more that a movie night with 3 loves, guacamole, tortilla chips and my boyfriend. So it’s highly likely we will be spending Valentines binge watching ‘That’s So 70’s Show’ and stuffing our faces with takeaway.
I don’t know about you but there’s one comment that’s always really annoyed me and that’s ‘Who are you all dressed up for?” Number one, I’m dressed up for me because there’s nothing wrong with making yourself feel good and Number two, why do I have to look nice for other people? If you’re like me, then wearing pretty underwear to places such as work, or the supermarket it something I do quite often. As I usually go to work bare faced, however, it makes me feel somewhat good when I know my underwear is pretty – Surely it’s not just me that does this, right?
If you don’t have a Valentine this year, which is completely okay, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the day of love. Get a cute bra on and a cosy jumper, pop on some Netflix and get together with you gal pals (or just yourself) and just take some time to breathe and reflect upon just how bloody brilliant you really are!
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day. no matter what your plans may be, be sure to get on New Look and make sure you’re ready for whatever life throws at you this Valentine’s. But remember, you’re golden!
