December is always one of my favourite months of the year. I love that everyone’s in the spirit of Christmas (you’re probably all sick of hearing that word now, right?) and it’s generally just an enjoyable month with it being my Birthday and obviously getting some time off work is always a bonus! As you may have read in my previous blog post, 2017 was a very difficult year, therefore, during 2018, I’m going to make a conscious effort to focus on the good things that happen each month, so that I don’t end a month fixated on the negative things.
So here are some of my 3 favourite moments of December 2017…
SEEING KASABIAN WITH ERIN
Despite being best friends for 2 years now, over the past 2 months, Erin and I have become practically inseparable. We’ve bonded so much more and I really feel like I’ve found someone who’s going to be in my life forever. Although we’ve been friends for a while now, we’d never attended a gig together, which is odd considering it’s one of my favourite things to do. We went to see Kasabian at the start of December and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to put into words just how hilarious the night was. Erin and I are complete old ladies and spend most of our time together sat in bed, drinking tea and talking about everything and anything, but this evening was like grannies let loose and we painted the town red and made a bunch of drunk friends in the process. Obviously, Kasabian performed incredibly, however, the highlight was certainly the drunken antics.
MIRACLE ON SEEL STREET
During the festive season, there’s nothing I love more than a little Christmas themed tipple! This year, 83 Seel Street put on a truly magical Christmas event during December. Salt Dog Slims and 81 are two of my favourite bars in the city, the bartenders are unbelievably talented and the general vibe is so enjoyable whether you’re visiting for a drink after work or a full night out during the weekend. 83, however, is their private bar above Salt Dog Slims of the 3rd floor. Miracle on Seel Street was honestly just so lovely and really got me in the festive spirit. We visited on Monday 18th December, there was mulled wine, mince pies, Christmas music and a bucket load of Christmas decorations. The evening was tailored around the wonderfully crafted festive drinks menu, myself and my boyfriend sat for a good half an hour trying to decide what we wanted to try. I went for the Apple Pie Martini and It seriously tasted like apple pie with pouring cream, it was insane! If 83 hold any Christmas events this year, I will 100% be attending as you really cannot beat their cocktails and the entire vibe of the bar!
MY 22ND BIRTHDAY
If you know me, you’ll know that I’m not the biggest fan of my own Birthdays. I love going out for dinner and spending time with my friends and family, however, sometimes I don’t like the attention as I do enjoy my own space (and taking naps) especially during the festive season and my birthday is the 27th December, which is prime napping season. I definitely prefer other people’s birthdays and gift giving, rather than receiving. This time around, I really enjoyed my birthday, Vincent really made an effort and put so much thought into my gifts and just into the little touches and things that I really like, such as food and flowers..and naps. We had a day at home and ate cake and pizza with my family and then during the evening myself and Vincent went to Mowgli’s for dinner (which was INCREDIBLE) and went to our favourite bars such as McGuffies and Salt Dog Slims and danced to Fleetwood Mac and just had a truly wonderful time!
Let’s hope January is just as good – See you next Wednesday for a new post! Also, from next week I will be starting to post 2 times a week again (yay) as well as posting weekly uploads onto my Youtube channel, it’s time to kick ass in 2018!
