It’s Liverpool Sound City’s 10th Birthday, which means that the line up us looking pretty spectacular! However, with the lineup being so brilliant, it’s made it even harder to narrow down the bands and artists that I need to see, especially if there’s any of the dreaded time clashes! I thought I’d spare anyone who’s going the pain of statically planning your day and do it for you. Yeah, I’m that thoughtful, you can thank me later once you’ve had the best weekend of your life – I know I will be dancing like Stevie Nicks and singing my heart out the entire weekend!
THE MAIN STAGE MUST-SEE’S
This year I’m SO excited about the majority of the acts taking over the main stage throughout the weekend. I love the variety on the main stage, from the classics like The Kooks to controversial hardcore bands like Slaves! There’s something for everyone to enjoy! This year, I’m most excited about Metronomey, I’ve loved this band for SO long, however I’ve never actually seen them live, so as you can probably imagine, I freaked out a little (a lot) when I saw them on this years lineup!

3. The Kills
5. The Kooks
THE BANDS YOU NEED TO WATCH
The thing I love the most at festivals is discovering new bands, and supporting bands that are local and bloody deserve a round of applause! There’s so many amazing ‘smaller’ bands at Sound City this year, I love how they constantly have new acts and unsigned artists playing at the festival, it truly captures what the Liverpool music scene is about! I personally cannot wait to see The Vryll Society this year, these lads are seriously on the cusp of something amazing. I interviewed them last year for a radio project and they’re seriously so down to earth and deserve every success! I also can’t wait to see Fizzy Blood, once again a band who’ve got something truly special and can’t wait to see them live once again!

3. Fizzy Blood
5. The Japanese House
THINGS TO DO
Having some down-time and exploring the festival grounds is another feature of a festival that I truly enjoy, although the Sound City site is no Glastonbury, there’s still loads of thing to do when you’re not watching bands or drinking in the sunshine. There’s conversations with artists happening at the Tim Peaks Diner, last year I attended a conversation with one of my favourite Radio X DJ”s Jonathan Kennedy alongside one of my fave Liverpool local bands Circa Waves, the conversations are interesting and something you don’t get at other festivals!
1. Visit Tim Peaks Diner
2. Dance With Brazilica
3. Try Some Food From Liverpool’s Independents
4. Have FUN!
