I’m so happy that festival season is now only a stones through away. For me, my summer isn’t complete without attending a handful of festivals and gigs. I love the festival atmosphere and how everyone lets their worries fade away for a weekend of singing, dancing and trying to dodge the rain. Although I’m a massive festival fan, I’m not always a huge fan of ‘festival dressing’ don’t get me wrong, I love how it looks on other people, however that whole ‘Coachella vibes’ just dines’t really suit me – And there’s nothing worse than when you feel uncomfortable and paranoid at a festival.
If you’ve read my blog for a while, or you’ve seen a few of my #OOTD’s on Instagram, then you’ll know that I’m a huge lover of 60’s/70’s style. I love the colours, patterns and textures. So that’s usually the vibe I go for at festivals. I’m definitely more Woodstock than Coachella.
This year I’m very happy to announce that I’m one of the Blogger Ambassadors for Liverpool’s Sound City Festival. A lively weekender that takes place on the Liverpool waters, showcasing Liverpool’s honest talents as well as some amazing headline acts such as Metronomy and The Kooks. I’m a huge fan and avid go-er to the festival, so this is simply an honour! However with all the excitement as the weekend draws closer, I’m simply left thinking “What the hell am I going to wear?”
HOW TO DRESS FOR A CITY FESTIVAL
– DRESS COMFORTABLY
Probably the most obvious tip I could give, however I feel like this is forgotten about so much at festivals. With Sound City, there’s not tents and you can’t leave the festival site, therefore wearing those new shoes that you haven’t broken in, isn’t really the best idea now is it? I genuinely prefer to wear my most trust worthy shoes – Which usually ends up in me wearing my trusty converse or my worn in black ankle boots. The look great with pretty much every outfit and I can wear them all day without feeling the pain!
– PLAY AROUND
Although you’re trying to stay comfortable, that doesn’t mean you should play around with your style a little bit. Been dying to try wearing a bright colour? Sound City is your chance to showcase it! Festivals are all about being fun-loving and free. So allow your style to capture that and go crazy without colour, texture or be like me, and go mad for suede fringe details!
– THINK ABOUT THE WEATHER
Once again, another super obvious point, however it’s one that people forget about most. If you’re starting your day early at the festival, you never know what the weather might actually pan out like. Last year, we had BEAUTIFUL weather at Sound City, so beautifully sunny and warm, we did not go prepared. We burnt as we had no suncream and definitely didn’t drink enough water. Luckily, the festival has a first aid tent where we could get some suncream – However at this point the damage had been done! Get yourself a handbag sized suncream, a fold away poncho and bring a jacket for the cooler evenings. It’s always best to be prepared!

To me festival fashion is all about being fun, however remaining comfortable and of course, prepared for EVERYTHING! I had 70’s vibes in mind when I was pulling together this look. I absolutely love how suede and vintage wash denim looks together, it complete captures those 70’s vibes that I was aiming to adapt. This outfit is seriously fuss free and easy, however, it still looks the part! I think another thing to remember when dressing for festivals is to stay true to your personal style, but exaggerate it a little more, be a more extra version of yourself. If you feel great in what you’re wearing, it’s more likely that you’ll have more fun! – That’s how I feel anyways.
As the weeks go by and Sound City gets closer and closer, I’m going to be sharing A LOT of related content, so stay tuned for more festival inspired outfits, tips and even a cheeky little GIVEAWAY, so you (yes you) could be in the chance of attending Sound City and having an absolute ball of a weekend, dancing time away!
