It goes without saying, that Colourpop has definitely been one of the most talked about the brand over the last year or so, it started with the hype of their liquid lipsticks and slowly everything and anything became popular from the Colourpop range. I find it so annoying living in the UK when there are so much hype and love surrounded so many brands and products that we simply just can’t get out here. However, they’ve begun shipping from their website over to the UK, which is great news for all beauty junkies alike, and I was kindly treated to a set of their Super Shock Eyeshadows as a 21st birthday gift from my beautiful best friend from Erin from Bitchin’Blonde. So I thought it would only be right to let you know what I thought of the shadows and whether they’re actually worth the hype, before any of my UK readers take a dive into the wonderful world of Colourpop… Let’s so this!
First and foremost, I just want to say massive props to Erin for the colours that she picked out for me, you know it’s a real friendship when they select the colours that you instantly fall in love with and would wear every single day. The shades are a part of the ‘Zingara’ set, which is a selection of four warm toned eyeshadows that are simply beautiful. There are 2 matte shades, a satin shade, and a shimmer, therefore, the selection that you get is enough to create an entire look, which is brilliant if you’re like me and hate having to jump from palette to palette to achieve your desired look.
SHOULD YOU BELIEVE THE HYPE?
Although for most ‘hyped’ products, I end up eventually trying them and feeling as though they’re that overly hyped it can make a product less exciting, even if it’s moderately good. However, I can well and truly say that the Colour Pop Super Shock Eyeshadows live up to the hype. There you go I’ve said it, I’m well and truly aboard the colour pop train and I don’t intend on getting off anytime soon, not until I’ve tried it all anyways!
So, let’s delve a little deeper. If you’ve seen my makeup stash you’ll know that I’m certainly not a stranger to a warm toned orange or red eyeshadow, they’ve inevitably taken over my makeup drawers and I don’t really have an issue with that if I’m honest. A girl can never have too many orange or red eyeshadows in my eyes. If you’re a beauty hoarder like me, you’ll know the struggle of finding the products that have amazing formula as well as incredible pigmentation, it’s a constant battle however I think I may have solved it with these eyeshadows.
Let’s talk about the pigmentation and the formula, the two aspects of a product that go hand in hand in order to make it sheer perfection. The pigmentation was what I expected, incredible. You really don’t need to pack your brush with the shadow, a little bit really does go a long way. The formula is so unusual (I’m aware that literally everyone says this) but it’s almost as though they’re bouncy. They’re so buttery and work well if you apply them with your fingers as well as if you used a brush. I personally prefer to use a brush, however, if you wanted a quick wash of colour and prefer using your fingers then I definitely say that you have that option with these eyeshadows.
If you have any colourpop reccomendations than please send them my way, help a girl out my feeding her shopping addiction, right? I can’t wat to try more bits and bobs from the colourpop ranges, and I’m sure you guys will be able to read all about it when I do so!
