BOOHOO DRESS OF THE MONTH STYLING CHALLENGE

It feels so strange sitting back on my bed with my laptop on my knee and attempting to conjure up some words and make myself sound as though I’m some sort of lifestyle guru. However, it must be the power of the mince pie that’s making me feel super inspired. So, I thought we’d get back into the swing of things with a very exciting styling challenge from Boohoo!

They’ve kindly sent me a surprise dress with the challenge to style it up for their dress of the month challenge. They sent me a beautiful velvet bodycon dress which really comes across as quite sexy (if you haven’t guessed already, this is a word that you shouldn’t associate with me) therefore I found it quite difficult to style so that I felt comfortable, However, I think I might have hacked it. This one’s for the girls who want to dress like they have attitude, but still want to incorporate some of their personal style, so in my case, I was adamant to add a 60’s touch to the look.

You can shop the amazing velvet dress here perfect for any occasion both day and night!

For the look, I really wanted to feel comfortable in something I wouldn’t usually feel comfortable in, so I decided to use the dress in the style of a pinafore and incorporate some layering into the look. As you may know, I’m a massive lover of 60’s fashion so at any given chance I will always incorporate a few 60’s styling elements to make the outfit more ‘me’ and I think the look of the dress layered over a striped turtle neck top really plays it well when aiming for that 60’s vibe.

Obviously, there has to be a little sass involved (if I do say so myself) so I chucked on my trusted leopard print coat, which never really leaves my body during the winter in all honesty. By adding a beret to the look, it automatically makes the look more effortless Parisian, as well as ensuring that my fringe stays in place and I don’t look like a windswept mess!

Boohoo have won my heart with this dress, I think what I love most is that it’s a dress that I can really play around with. It would look so cool styled for an evening look with a mesh body underneath and some silver ankle boots for an added edge to the outfit.  The dress comes in a few different colours too, so if black velvet isn’t doing it for you, there’s a red and navy colour which are equally is beautiful.

A massive thank you to Boohoo for involving me in this months styling challenge. It was indeed a challenge, however I’m really happy with how the outfit turned out and It’s definitely got me wanting to try some more clothing items that would usually be out of my comfort zone!

Thanks for reading!
