I’m the type of gal that very rarely switches up her daily makeup routine, due to the fact that I’m no make-up artists and me attempting a different make-up look, usually results in me staring at myself in the mirror with frustration, wondering where it all went so wrong. So I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing recently and using to ensure I have a fool proof and stress proof face!
Once I find a product that I love, it takes a lot for me to use something else or even consider doing! The only make-up products that I tend to switch up somewhat regularly is my eyeshadows, I’m a firm believer in sticking with what I know! So, I thought I’d share the products that are tried, tested and trusted by me this Summer!
I’ve been prepping my skin with the MAC Strobe Cream as I have oily skin and have to use a lot of matte base product to ensure the oils are combated throughout the day! However sometimes I feel as though my skin can look lifeless and dull, so I add some of the strobe cream to the areas that I’d apply highlighter, and when my foundation and the rest of my base is applied, it leaves me with a subtle glow to my skin and makes my skin look a lot healthier and brighter!
Summer make-up is all about the base! I want a flawless, glowing yet natural looking base to give me an extra boost of confidence no matter what I’m doing! I’ve been testing out the Lo’real 24hr Infallible Matte Foundation, I have oily skin, so it’s no surprise that I opt for a matte finish foundation, I use a beauty blender to simply blend it into my skin and make it look as natural as possible! Matte foundations can occasionally be quite heavy and noticeable on the skin, however I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this foundation, it’s really light and almost unnoticeable on my skin however it still provides me with a decent amount of coverage! I then go in with my Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer underneath my eyes to brighten them and make me look more awake! I completely love this concealer, I’ve went through numerous tubes of this stuff, It’s the perfect concealer for underneath your eyes to hide those dark circles!
I then powder my face with my trusted Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. I feel as though this is the one finishing powder that I always go back to, it really does prevent access oil from attacking my face during the day! I then add a bit of colour to my face by subtly contouring and defining my cheekbones, forehead and jawline with the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer this bronzer is completely matte so it’s perfect for contouring, on a day to day basis, I like a bit of definition but not too much, therefore this is the bronzer that I always opt for as it’s not too heavy look and it blends like a dream! I then use my all time favourite blush Benefits Rockatuer Blush, this just adds a bit of colour and life to my cheeks! I finish with Mac’s Highlighter in Soft & Gentle, anyone who’s anyone raves about this highlighter and there’s a reason for that because this highlighter is simply beautiful! It adds such a subtle highlight to your face without looking like you’re a walking talking disco ball!
Brows are a massive priority for me, I have a decent eyebrow shape (if I do say so myself) however they’re very sparse! I’ve been using the NYX Eyebrow Gel in Blonde to define and shape my brows! This stuff is amazing, it’s so long lasting and can really be made to look so natural and mimic actual eyebrow hairs! I simply comb my eyebrows into shape and lightly stroke the product into my eyebrows to shape and define them!
I’ve been using a custom palette that I made from NYX eyeshadows to create my everyday eye look! I’ve been sweeping the colour ‘Happy Hour’ all over the lids for a wash of colour and then adding ‘Guilt Trip’ to the crease to contour my eye! I then add a pop of colour with the shade ‘Bonfire’ which is a dreamy burnt orange shimmer that really makes blue eyes ‘pop’! I add this to the centre of my eyelids and blend it into the other two shades, adding more of ‘Guilt Trip’ if needed! I’ve been skipping the eyeliner quite a lot recently, so It’s straight onto mascara with the Maybeline Lash Sensational to add length and volume to my lashes!
Finally, it’s onto my favourite thing, lipstick! I’ve been using a Make Up For Ever matte lipstick in the shade M1, this shade is a lovely nude pink with brown undertones, perfect for any season! This lipstick is so creamy, it’s really not drying or tacky feeling on the lips! It’s long lasting, creamy and slowly becoming one of my favourite lipsticks!
See you on Tuesday!
