Another month has flown past, we’re slowly coming into the Summer months, my uni deadlines are growing closer, stress levels are sky high right now! Personally, stress for me just induces my need to shop, I feel somewhat satisfied by buying something that’s going to make me feel better about myself – Sounds sad be we all do it, right? Therefore this month is filled with new beauty discoveries, which I couldn’t help but share! I feel as though these products are a simple, yet effective way to spruce up your makeup stash for the Spring/Summer! So, what Have I been loving this month?
MAC | STROBE CREAM
This is a favourite that I’d never thought I would love, my cousin who is a makeup artist gave me a sample to try as I was complaining about my skin appearing a little dull and from that moment on I was completely HOOKED on this product! You can use it to enhance areas that you place a highlighter, sort of like a primer for your highlighter, or you can use it all over your face for that radiant glow from beneath your makeup! I use this all over my face, as my skin needs brightening quite drastically! I’m always slightly sceptical about using primers and all that jazz before applying my makeup, as with having oily skin, sometimes primers can slip off and take my entire face of makeup with it! This however really absorbs into the skin and just leaves a really natural and radiant glow!
ILLAMASQUA | SKIN BASE FOUNDATION
A few months back I got my makeup done by Illamasqua and I really loved the coverage and finish of the foundation they used on me! After a few months of resisting the purchase, I just had to! Sometimes I get really bored of my foundation and begin to not see the benefits of it, so I do love a good foundation refresh! This foundation is a really lovely coverage, it’s a medium to full coverage foundation, which is perfect for this time of year when my skin can’t quite deal with the stress of University! As I have a really awkward skin tone, I purchased the white foundation so I can tailor the foundation to truly match my skin tone, this is a great idea as the lovely lady in the shop gave me a shade slightly darker than my skin tone, so If I get a tan (emphasis on the if) in the Summer, I won’t have to buy another shade of the foundation!
ILLAMASQUA | TRANSLUCENT POWDER
This purchase was spared on by me procrastinating and watching too many fancy makeup tutorials on YouTube and by fancy I mean people who actually know what they’re doing, unlike me who just hopes for the best! I began to watch tutorials on how to ‘bake’ your face, if you don’t know what this is then please YouTube it because I couldn’t do it any justice with my explanation, but basically it makes my makeup look FLAWLESS! This powder is really finely milled, it is 100% translucent, you don’t get any awkward white patches whatsoever! I love how this feels on my skin, it’s really lightweight and it really keeps the concealer in place for an extended amount of time, as well as battling my issue with access oils on my skin!
MAC | HUG ME LIPSTICK
I know I’ve spoken about this in a previous favourites post, however like clockwork I’ve been going back to this little gem of a lipstick! I just love how fuss free it is, it doesn’t dry my lips out and it pretty much goes with every day-to-day makeup look that I do! It’s a ‘your lips, but better’ shade that I’m quite literally addicted to! This shade is what I’ve been reaching for when I want to wear a colour on my lips however I don’t want the fuss of it all, on occasions I don’t even wear lipliner with this, I simply apply it to the lips like a lip balm and I’m ready to go!
LO’REAL | MASTER SCULPT MASCARA
Mascara is the one thing that I constantly run out of, so this was a purchase that I actually needed – Sorry not sorry to my bank account! I’ve seen quite a lot of YouTubers using this mascara and saying that they loved it, so I thought it was about time to try something new within the realms of mascara! This is the mascara that has that weird crocodile head type brush, this initially scared me as it is quite intimidating, however the brush really lengthens and exaggerates the curl of your eyelashes so you’re left with really fluttery lashes! I have quite sensitive eyes that water with any slight wind, this mascara is almost like a waterproof one, when my eyes water there’s no leakage and it prevents me from looking like a hot mess on a daily basis, thank you Lo’real!
So, that concludes this months favourites! Throughout the month of May there’s only going to be 1 blog post a week instead of 2, just as all of my University deadlines are in May, so for this month I’ve really got to concentrate on that! However once that’s all over I’m going to be bunking my blog post rate up to every other day throughout the Summer to make up for it!
