This post is SO over due, considering I’m a complete lipstick hoarder, and my collection keeps growing and growing, I thought I would share some of my most used MAC lipsticks, the ones that I can wear no matter what the occasion is, the ones that have over exceeded my expectations, and of course, the ones that I would 100% repurchase when the day they run out comes!
MAC lipsticks are a personal go-to for me, simple because there’s just so many shades and formulas, the collection can literally never come to an end, great news for MAC, but not for my bank account! Especially considering that my style is constantly changing and evolving, I find myself reaching and purchases different types of shades and formulas. I’ve went from being into red lips, to purple lips and now I’m well and truly stuck in my neutrals and nudes! It’s mandatory to change things up every now and then!
LADY DANGER | MATTE FINISH
Lady Danger was a lipstick i purchased just under a year ago! Occasionally I feel as though my face needs a bit of colour, something to make it ‘pop’ being pale, I think that sometimes my face can look a little lifeless – However whenever I wear this lipstick I feel vibrant, I might even say that I feel a lil but funky, which is a word I don’t use too often! It’s an orange undertones red, If you’re wearing a boring-isn outfit and just need something to lift it a little, this is always my answer. I wear this a lot throughout the Summer, as it’s just a perfect Summer red! Although it’s matte, it’s definitely one of Mac’s more creamy matte formula’s, I find that some Mac red’s can be quite drying and they just don’t have that beautiful creamy matte finish, however this one does! If you’re looking for your perfect Summer red, this one will have you covered on all levels!
CREAM IN YOUR COFFEE | CREMESHEEN FINISH
I absolutely adore this lipstick! I love it because you can lightly dab it into the lips for a hint of colour, or you can line your lips (I usually use Mac’s Half Red or Spice lipliner) and apply it for a bold, yet hydrating colour! Cream In Your Coffee is a mauve pink with brown undertones, occasionally I’ve worn this lipstick and thought It almost has a mauve purple undertone to it! I love it when a lipstick shade is almost indescribable, that way it must be completely unique, which is exactly what I think Cream In Your Coffee is, It’s not your ‘typical’ pink/brown which is a good change as I have a lot of lipsticks that fit into that category! A considerable amount of my more neutral lipsticks are matte, this lipstick is a cremesheen formula, so it’s really hydrating and although the staying power isn’t as long as a matte lipstick would be, the colour pay off considering it’s a cremesheen lipstick over-exceeds the standards! It’s a perfect lipstick for everyday!
MEHR | MATTE FINISH
If you know me personally, you will know that Mehr is my jam! It’s one of my all time, all raved, much loved lipstick that I’ve ever purchased! Mehr is dusk pink shade, I don’t do true pink’s, they just don’t suit me at all! However Mehr is just perfect, I literally cannot put it into words, it’s a more pink version of velvet teddy I would say, It has the same matte but creamy formula, and it’s highly pigmented! I usually line my lips with Mac’s Subculture lipliner and then apply Mehr on top of it! It’s such a pretty and wearable colour. On my skin tone it’s a neutral, however if you had darker skin, I’d imagine this shade to look amazing, it would be a really lovely bold light mauve pink!
TAUPE | MATTE FINISH
Now onto an actual brown lipstick, rather than me describing a shade as having ‘brown undertones’ this one is actually brown – I’m really pushing the boat out guys! Despite the actually colour Taupe being a cool tone brown, almost ash brown like, Taupe (the lipstick form) is actually quite a warm toned brown with almost terracotta pink undertones, especially on darker skin tones, however on my skin it just looks brown, the pale life chose me! The lipstick isn’t as creamy as the previous matte formulas that I’ve spoken about, however I wouldn’t say it was particularly drying, I think as Mac lipstick become more dark, their formulas naturally become a little bit more drying! I pair this bad boy up with Mac’s whirl liner, for that ‘Kylie Jenner Lip’ look that everyone loves and still loves!
TWIG | SATIN FINISH
Back with another much loved Mac lipstick classic, it’s Twig! Once again, if you know me then you’ll know that I pretty much wear this lipstick all the time, there’s just something about it! Twig is ever so similar to Mehr, however it’s slightly browner in colour! I find that with my complexion being pale, I don’t suit nude lips, as they just completely wash me out, so I tend to go for the mauve pink-browns over most shades. Twig is a Satin formula, and I cannot fault the staying power, I find with some Satin formulas that they disappear in the centre of the lips but stay on the edges, however this lipstick stays on exceptionally well for a Satin formula!
DIVA | MATTE FINISH
Last but certainly not least, it’s Diva! Diva is the definition of a Vampy red, it’s dark and very mysterious looking! I tend to wear this lipstick when I’m attempting to channel my inner goth, or during the festive season, as a bit of an alternative to the stereotypical bright festive red! I don’t really think there’s many dark vampy reds that have as good pigmentation as Diva, I find with some dark lipsticks, that they stick to certain parts of my lips, and some parts will be darker than others as a result of this. However Diva is really consistent with it’s colour! I wouldn’t recommend wearing this lipstick if your lips are sore or chapped, as I said earlier, the darker shades of MAC lipsticks tend to be that little bit more drying, which I’d say Diva is creamy, however depending on how long you’re intending on wearing it for, it can become a tad drying, but all in all it’s a really beautiful and pigmented dark vamp red!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post, what are your favourite and most used Mac lipsticks?
