I wouldn’t consider myself a foundation junkie what-so-ever, however I’ve tried a far few in my time, some have failed and some have succeeded! I find that foundation is one of my makeup items that I’m terribly picky with, once I find one I like I will stick with it until I have convinced myself and heavily researched into another one!

My skin type is is an awkward one, I’m very very pale with a pink undertone with oily to combination skin, however I get some really serve dry patches, especially during the winter months. I usually go for matte foundations and oil free foundations as I just find that I can achieve glowy skin by adding a hint of highlighter or by even using a radiant face primer before I apply the foundation. So, let’s get into it then shall we?

This foundation is one that I’ve given my first impressions on in a blog post last year. I have been using this foundation more and more over the past few months since I bought it, and each time I use it I love it even more! I think Make Up For Ever have a good shade range in general, with their paler shades they have a yellow or pink undertone option, which I think is brilliant and I’ve never had an issue with this shade oxidising and turing darker, it’s really true to the shade and how it’s described. I love the formula in this foundation, I would say it’s medium coverage although it can be worked up to a full coverage, as you can do with most medium coverage foundations. Although it hasn’t made any claims of being oil free or having a matte finish. It’s a tiny bit dewier than a lot of foundations that I own, however I still think it has a somewhat matte finish. I wear this foundation when I want my akin to have that really healthy glow. I’ve had a lot of compliments on the appearance of my skin when I’ve been wearing this – Which is brilliant considering it’s my skin that I have problems with from time to time!

This foundation is like gold dust over here in the UK! They only UK website that stocks it is QVC, and it’s literally always sold out! I love it that much I buy it from Sephora and pay the charges to get it into England, because this is my go-to foundation. This foundation is full coverage, so I don’t wear it everyday. However if I’m going on a night out or i’m having a bad skin day and I’m going to be out of the house the majority of the day, this is the foundation that I reach for! It has an almost whipped cream like texture, when it’s buffed into the skin the result is just amazing, it gives that really flawless velvety texture to the skin! Initially I thought this shade was going to be too yellow toned for my skin, however when it’s blended it, it looks amazing and literally undetectable. This foundation just lasts a long time, which is brilliant as I don’t tend to touch up my makeup throughout the day!

This is my ‘Summer’ foundation, for when I want that really effortlessly glowing appearance to my skin. I think as the foundation is described as ‘silk’ that’s what you would expect and that’s inevitably what you get! Unfortunately this is the old formula of this foundation, as for some reason they changed up the formula, and judging by reviews from other bloggers that swore by this foundation, it’s nowhere near as good as the old formula! So I’ve been using this sparingly as I absolutely love it. It quite similar in texture to the Make Up Forever one and the Mac Prolong Wear foundation, however it’s ever so slightly thicker, so it’s really good for achieving that full coverage flawless appearance to your skin! This foundation doesn’t particularly have a specific yellow or pink undertone option, however the shade ‘Soft Ivory’ is pretty much perfect for my skin tone.

My experiences with MAC foundations has been a rocky one indeed, for a long while MAC didn’t actually provide a shade that was pale enough for my skin tone, a few years ago, MAC’s foundation range stopped at NW15, which was their lightest shade, which was too dark for my skin tone! However I’ve had a few of these foundations now and I love them, I feel like this is my most reliable foundation as I know it’s going to provide me with a build-able coverage and it’s going to last a decent amount of time. I’m the shade NW10, which is the lightest shade that mac stock, it had a ever so slight pink undertone, which I love as it blends in nicely, however it’s not too overly pink where it makes me look as though I’ve went a bit OTT with the blusher!

What are you favourite foundations?

See you on Tuesday!

I have the exact same pale girl problems! Need to get my hands on the Make Up Forever and Tarte foundations, this has made me want them even more! You should give Bourjois Healthy Mix a go, it's my all time favourite everyday foundation! I love your blog!Aimee x

All of these foundations are brilliant! I tried MUFE and I absolutely loved it, I unfortunately had to return it because it made me break out. But I loved how it made my skin look otherwise! I've always owned MAC Studio Fix! Which I loved as well! I was matched with the color 'NC15' thinking this was their lightest shade, and I wore it for awhile but it was WAY too dark for me! I loved the foundation so much though, but knowing they have lighter shades with pink undertones gives me hope! xoMcKenzie |

I only tried Tarte's foundation, among those you show here. I'm so pleased with it, it works wonders!

Your review has sealed the deal for me. I have been undecided on whether or not to get the Tarte foundation for so long and you have just persuaded me to get it as it seems so amazing. Also I didn't even know that Mac had started doing foundations lighter than NC/NW 15 so I am extremely excited. Thank you so much 🙂 x

Gorgeous photos! I feel pale foundations have orange undertones sometimes, which sucks! These all sound good though, and I could imagine the Tarte one having excellent coverage xxJasmine ||

I have pale problems too! My body tans but my face doesn't! It can be hard to find a perfect foundation shade that doesn't look too fake. I like the Rimmel Wake Me Up and the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation 🙂

I wore that exact Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation for years, it really is the holy grail when it comes full coverage!

I only wear foundation occasionally, but when I do it's the Laura Mercier silk creme, I have both the old and new formula and I don't necessarily notice anything bad about the new one, I mix it with my tinted moisturiser so it's not too thick. You should head to a Laura Mercier counter and ask for a sample and try it out xAlbana Janjeva | Stylist | January Swimwear of the Month

My skin tone is very odd and most foundations either appear too pinky or too orangey on me. I picked up the studio fix in NC15 because I was afraid that if I got a darker shade I'd look like I was auditioning for Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It suited so well and I didn't look as ghostly as expected, with tan I use NC25 – but I'd really recommend picking up the NC15 one instead of the NW10 because it's the perfect pale shade!Cíara |

I've really been wanting to try that Laura Mercier foundation but its such a shame they changed the formula 🙁 Why must companies always change a good thing?! MAC foundations seem to run so dark so I wish they would offer a 10 in the NC line as well, I made the mistake of picking up an NC20 a few years back and had to be oompa loompa status for a few weeks!
