This month has been a month a re-discovery and exciting new finds! On nights when I have no plans, I genuinely enjoy having a good old root through my beauty stash and rediscovering products that I once loved, and even trying out products that I initially didn’t like. However every girl loves a bit of retail therapy so of course there’s some new bits and bobs that I’ve been loving throughout September!
Nars – Deep Throat Blush
I’ve had this blush for a few months now and I’ve pretty much used it everyday since, so I thought it deserved some sort of honourable mention in this months favourites. I love the texture of Nars blushes, they’re not chalky or dry st all. They’re silky, almost smooth in texture. This blush is practically perfect for that natural blushed cheeks effect. It’s not too over powering on he cheeks, very subtle, I find it works well at complimenting my pale complexion, it gives my cheeks a bit of life, which is an essential coming into the winter months as my skin gets even paler!
Rimmel – Wonderful Mascara
This is one of the products that I had forgotten about over the past few months. I bought this mascara as I was intrigued by the fact this mascara contains argan oil, which is supposedly supposed to separate and lengthen the lashes – and that it does! I feel as though mascara is the one beauty product that I don’t seem to have a favourite of, however this is pretty ‘wonderful’. I have such an issue with mascaras being clumpy, so then I spend ages attempting to separate each eyelash. I haven’t had the issue with this being clumpy whatsoever, and it’s really cheap and the packaging is copper, so what’s not to like?
REN – Invisible Pores Detox Mask
This mask is a life saver to me! As the season change, my skin does’t seem to adapt well to the changes, so it always freaks out a little because it’s so sensitive. As we’re slowly transitioning into Autumn/Winter it’s time ti whip out the good old Detox Mask. Initially I thought this was going to be too strong for my skin, however it’s not broke me out, it’s only helped with the prevention of spots to be fair. The mask leaves your skin feeling so smooth and clean, however as it removes make-up build up deep into your pores, sometimes is can dry my skin out – Which swiftly moves us onto my next favourite..
First Aid Beauty – Ultra Repair Cream
This is the first ever First Aid Beauty skin care product I’ve tried, and I absolutely LOVE it! I have combination skin, so occasionally my skin is really dry, and occasionally it can be oily. I only use this product when it’s dry, as I think it would be too much if you had overly oily skin. This literally gets rid of really dry skin in a day. I put it on before I go to sleep (or occasionally before applying makeup) and when I wake up in the morning my skin is so hydrated and and the horrible cracked, dry skin is gone. A genuine life saver!
MAC – Mehr Lipstick
This is yet another product that I’ve rediscovered within my collection. This is the lipstick I bought when everyone was going through that ‘Kylie Jenner 90’s lip’ phase. I do not suit dark brown lipsticks, I haven’t got the right skin tone for them at all. It’s a really wearable neutral colour to wear if you hate bright pink lipsticks like I do. This is probably the only ‘pink’ lipstick that I would feel comfortable in, as I’m not a massive fan of ‘Barbie’ pink lipsticks as being blond, I feel like I’ve just stepped straight out of mean girls, but in a bad way (is that possible?)
MAC – Soft & Gentle Highlighter
You guessed it, this is another product that I’ve found in the darkest depths of my makeup collection. I only ever use highlighters during Autumn/Winter due to the fact my skin gets really oily in Summer, and then it changes and becomes a lot dryer during the colder months. So technically I don’t have much of a need for highlighters during the Summer as my skin is dewy anyway. However this highlighter is a complete love of mine, the golden tones just give a really ‘soft & gentle’ highlight, it’s literally in the name. This is a must have to any makeup collection!
Music Favourite | Beach House – Depression Cherry
One of my favourite bands have released their new album ‘Depression Cherry’ at the end of August, so obviously all I’ve listened to is this album throughout September. If you haven’t listened to Beach House before, they’re quite euphoric and sound almost like you’re in a day dream. They’re quite similar in sound to other artists like Wild Nothing and Warpaint – So if you like them then I’d recommend that you have a listen. They’re playing in Manchester in a few weeks time and it breaks my heart a little bit that I haven’t got a ticket.
Fashion Favourite | Belts
I feel as though Belts is a really random favourite. However when I thought back to what I’ve been wearing a-lot recently, it’s definitely belts. I switch up my clothes, shoes, bags etc so often so It’s quite hard to chose just one. I’ve been loving wearing belts with denim, such as high waisted jeans and skirts, it’s just adds a little point of interest to a plain outfit, even if you’re just wearing a plain old tee and jeans, throwing on a belt and a few necklaces just make me feel so much more put together, when I don’t really want to put too much thought into an outfit. The particular belt that is pictured above is from ASOS and is reversible, so on one side it’s a lovely vintage tan colour, and on the other side it’s black, so I basically have the best of both worlds – When it comes to belts anyway..
What are your September favourites?
