LAYER PLAYER | A GUIDE TO LAYERING

Layering is something that I do quite often, I love layering shirts over tops or dresses over tops - If it can be layered than I will most likely try to somehow incorporate it into a look somehow.  Layering can be used no matter what your style is, I've style two outfits, one is a modern 60's look with a vintage wash denim shirt and a striped turtle neck, and the other is something more gothic and 90's, I've layered a sheer lace blouse with a silky textured spaghetti strap V neck cami - Something super gothic, yet the lace adds the famine edge!

OUTFIT ONE | MODERN 60'S DENIM
STRIPE TURTLE NECK - BRANDY MELVILLE
VINTAGE WASH SHIRT - ASOS DENIM
LEATHER BIKER SKIRT - TOPSHOP PETITE
BOOTS - PUBLIC DESIRE

60's style is renowned for it's bright colours, mini skirts, high necked tops and dresses and of course their funky boots! However being a lover of black and all things minimal, I decided to give the 60's trend a bit of a modern update! Something that still fun and cool however super wearable for everyday modern life!

I layered a striped turtle neck with a light vintage washed denim shirt, I think this type of layering with the turtle necks and the shirts, can be quite 70's too, however paired with this leather mini skirt and these funky heeled boots, I thought the outfit had more of a 60's vibe! I think the leather biker skirt really helps to add the modern appeal to the look, without taking too much of he 60's vibes away from the look!

OUTFIT TWO | GOTHIC LACE & LEATHER

LACE BLOUSE - ASOS
V NECK CAMI - ASOS
LEATHER SKIRT - FOREVER 21
BELT - BOOHOO
BOOTS - PUBLIC DESIRE

Now onto something a little bit more gothic! I absolutely love this look, you could even make it an evening look by adding some black or silver heels for a laid back evening look! However I'ce kept it quite casual by pairing it with some tights and the same boots from the previous look! I think the whole black and black look can be taken as being quite boring sometimes, however I think that entirely depends on how you style it! I love lace blouses for layering, as there's just so many ways you can wear them! I decided to layer something on top of the lace blouse, I usually layer tops underneath lace items, however I thought this looked really cool and chic layered over the top!

I then paired it with this lovely faux leather skirt from Forever 21, I love this as it's ever so slightly A-line, so it's a really flattering shape! I then added this really gorgeous western style belt around my waist, I thought this really brought the whole outfit together and really finished off the whole ''gothic' appeal!

  1. Loved both these looks, especially the gothic lace one! I tend to like layering with long pieces, the cozier the better ;)
