DAY TRIPPER | THE POCKET GUIDE TO LIVERPOOL

As some of you may now, Liverpool is my home town and every now and again I like to have a little explore around my home city, as though I was a tourist! Even though you live somewhere, that doesn't mean you shouldn't explore it!
This is one of the first instalments of these types of posts, I've decided to start documenting some little adventure you can endeavour if you're ever visiting Liverpool, or you're planning to in the future. The first instalment is named 'DAY TRIPPER" (Beatles reference intended) However I thought I'd list some things you can get up to if you're just visiting Liverpool for a day and you want some interesting places to eat, shop and learn about this multi-cultural and energetic city!
A city littered with interesting street art!
WHERE TO EAT?
Obviously, you're gonna want to eat during your visit to Liverpool, so I thought I would share one of my favourite little places to eat within the city centre! I'm a strong believer in soaking up the city life when I'm visiting a new city or town, I like eating at quirky independent hot posts. You can go to a chain restaurant pretty much anywhere, so why bother? Liverpool has some fantastic independent restaurants and cafe's waiting to be discovered by your taste buds!

FILTER & FOX

I absolutely adore Filter & Fox, although it's small it's a complete hidden gem! Located on Duke Street it's only a short walk from the Liverpool One shopping centre, so you can shop and then hideaway in this delightful little retreat! You don't feel as though you're in a cafe in a bustling city centre what so ever, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed! The serve up a selection of lunch options such as; sandwiches, soups, and sharing plates! I've been here a fair few times and I've never been disappointed!

The whole experience there is such a treat, the hot drinks are served on a antique style tray, with a complimentary wafer biscuit and an ice cold glass of water! It's also a really nice place to visit if you're winding down of an evening, there's pretty fairy lights, good music and a cosy bench scattered with cushions and fur blankets, absolutely heavenly!

WHERE TO SHOP?
Liverpool is a great place to shop, it has a wonderful mix of your typical hughstreet favourites, from Topshop and Zara to some vintage and vintage renewal stores like Pop Boutique and Soho! There's a shopping scene for everyone here in Liverpool, so I thought I would share 2 of the shops that I love myself!

POP BOUTIQUE
Pop Boutique is a vintage/ vintage renewal clothing store located on Bold Street! I know that they have a few other stores in London and Manchester, however the clothing in each store is always going to be different! Pop Boutique is popular and they've recently upgraded to a bigger store, which is super exciting as this means more stock! I shop a lot here during the Summer and festival season as they do some really comfy and casual basics that have a really relaxed vintage edge to them! Their clothing is affordable and great quality, so If you're around I'd definitely take a peak!

PROBE RECORDS

Probe records is located on School Lane, just near The Bluecoat, it's a little door way into an amazing music cave. Record Shops are slowly making their come-back however Probe has lived through it all and is still standing strong! Even if you're not interested in buying records or you don't have a record player, Probe sell CD's, posters and merchandise from a wide selection of artists and bands! Once you're in there you're pretty much hooked, whenever I'm not sure what to do or I have some free time whilst I'm in the city centre, Probe is where I go. I can spend so long in here just browsing through records and appreciating their music selection! It's only right to visit a record store when you're in the home of The Beatles, right?

The Bluecoat - A place for a coffee and some interesting Art!

LIVERPOOL CULTURE
It goes without saying that Liverpool is the home of so much History! We have beautiful buildings, a bustling high street and the reverting music culture. The Pier head is such a peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It's the standing ground of some famous Liverpool landmarks, such as the grand Liver Building and the new Beatles statue! Looking out onto the Mersey with an ice-cream in your hand during the summer is just heavenly! I often hop on my bike and cycle to the Pier Head in the Summer!

LIVERPOOL HISTORY MUSEUM
When in Liverpool, it's only right to learn a little about the cities history and it's remarkable transformation since the days of the War! Whilst you're wandering the Peir Head, there's the Liverpool History Museum, which is free and full of interesting exhibits, there's something for everyone, from music, to football, to world war history and even architecture! As well as that, there's some amazing windows with some even more amazing views of the Pier Head, I know everyone loves a good view!

Although there's a selection of museums within Liverpool, catering to the music fans and history buffs, I think that the Liverpool History Museum is brilliant if you're wanting the choice of it all, for the purpose of slotting it into one day! I personally love wondering around museums  and just soaking in a bit on culture, even if I'm just looking at the displays!
  DISCOVER LIVERPOOLS PAST #EVOLVINGCITIES
The Liverpool History Museum is a great place to learn about how Liverpool once was,  the city has evolved into a bustling and energetic city, however it's original charm still remains! Travel Lodge  actually have a website, where you can see how cities have evolved from what they once where, it''s really interesting to see what places look like in comparison to how they do know, you can check the sire out here! It's a brilliant way to see for yourself on their website! I love how looking how Liverpool once was when The Beatles dominated the streets, in comparison to now, when the streets are just as musical and vibrant - however a lot cleaner and colourful!

I hope you enjoyed todays post!

See you on Wednesday
